In a weather emergency Do not wait on us during an emergency. Weather Brother interprets official National Weather Service information to help you understand your risk. It is not a substitute for official warnings or for emergency services. If your life or safety is in immediate danger, call 911 and follow the guidance of your local officials.

Frequently asked questions

What does Weather Brother do? Weather Brother takes official National Weather Service data and turns it into clear, personalized guidance for your exact location and your specific shelter. It tells you what the weather actually means for you, not just for your county.

Where does the weather data come from? Our alerts and warnings come from the National Weather Service. Weather Brother interprets that official data and adds context from meteorologist Dallas McKinney and our AI tools. We interpret official data. We do not issue our own warnings.

Why does the app ask for my location? Your location is how Weather Brother knows which alerts, forecasts, and guidance actually apply to you. Without it, we can only give you generic information. You control location access in your device settings, and you can read exactly how we handle your data in our Privacy Policy.

What is the Shelter Survey? It is a short, six-question survey about where you ride out a storm. Your answers let Weather Brother tailor its safety guidance to your real situation, because a family in a reinforced basement and a family in a mobile home need very different advice. You can update your answers any time your situation changes.

Is Weather Brother free? Yes. Severe weather alerts, shelter guidance, and the core safety features are free, and we will never put life-safety information behind a paywall. Weather Brother Pro is an optional subscription that unlocks the full AI Meteorologist and unlimited weather questions.

How do I manage my notifications? Open Settings inside the app to choose what you are notified about, set an alert radius, and set quiet hours. Break-through alerts for tornadoes are designed to reach you even when your phone is silent, because those are the moments that matter most.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription? Subscriptions are billed through your Apple or Google account, so you manage or cancel them there. On iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. On Android, open the Google Play Store, tap your profile picture, then Payments and subscriptions.

How do I delete my account and my data? You can delete your account and its associated data from inside the app, under Settings. If you run into any trouble, email support@weatherbrother.com and we will take care of it for you.

Does Weather Brother work outside western Kentucky? Yes. Weather Brother is built with our region in mind, but it works anywhere in the United States. You can set it up for your own home or for the people you love wherever they live.

I found a bug or have a feature request. We want to hear it. Email support@weatherbrother.com with as much detail as you can, including the kind of phone you use and what happened, and it goes straight to the team.
